OUR HYBRID FUTURES
A Town Hall Meeting on Terrorism, Islamophobia, the Muslim Ban, and Antisemitism

Thursday, April 25th, 12:30 PM,
Humanities 1048, Purchase College

All students are kindly invited to join a frank conversation on recent political events characterized by religious and nationalist terrorism, often mobilized by fundamentalist ideas. How can we imagine a democratic, secular and diverse future in contrast to the many dark visions of religious fanatics? What does social and cultural diversity mean in this context? What are our responsibilities as citizens, artists, and intellectuals? Please join us. We want to hear from you.

Moderated by Hakan Topal (Assistant Professor of New Media and Art+Design) and
Wadiah Mohammad (East++ Intern, Visual Arts)

East++ is a new non-bureaucratic institution that focuses on alternative art and culture from the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and diasporic and indigenous cultures in the US, which was established at Purchase College this year.

Join East++ founder Prof. Hakan Topal and other students to brainstorm ways this initiative can thrive at SUNY Purchase.

This event was organized by New Media student Adrian Alfonso in collaboration with Multicultural Center.
